Merging

I am trying to merge a customer under a contractor. I created a new customer but when I go to merge customer only one shows up, I don't know what I am doing wrong. help

I am thinking that you might be typing in the name wrong? That is normally my issue when it comes to merging customers, as well as not being able to copy and paste the name of the customer into the merge box is also very annoying.
