Feature Request: Ability to Apply Custom Dollar Discounts on Estimates

Problem

Currently, there is no way to apply a specific dollar amount discount (e.g., $178.42) to an estimate in the field without creating a new discount item each time. This limitation creates inefficiencies when finalizing sales, especially in situations where customers negotiate a specific total price.

Example Use Case

A customer is quoted $15,178.42 for a new heat pump but is only willing to proceed if the price is adjusted to $15,000.00. Currently, our only options are:

  1. Applying a percentage-based discount, which doesn’t always result in the exact desired amount.
  2. Creating a custom discount item for every deal, which clutters the discount list and requires extra setup.
  3. Using a negative service item, which leads to invoice formatting issues and inconsistent reporting.

Proposed Solution

  • Enable direct input of a dollar amount in the discount field on estimates, allowing sales teams to apply an exact discount without creating a new item each time.
  • Ensure that discounts applied this way are still tracked in reporting, so businesses can analyze total discounts over time.
  • Keep the discount separate from service item costs to accurately reflect savings on customer invoices while maintaining clean records.

Why This Matters

  • Saves time & reduces friction – No need to create new discount items for every custom deal.
  • Improves reporting – Tracks all applied discounts for quarterly reviews.
  • Better customer experience – Allows sales teams to easily match customer price requests.
  • Cleaner invoices – Eliminates the need for negative service items that clutter invoice formatting.

This simple yet powerful enhancement would improve flexibility for sales teams and provide a more seamless invoicing process.

100% we need this as well. We are just moving to ServiceTitan now, and no being able to do custom discounts is a big hurdle we are trying to work around. Our sales team have authority to offer a discount up to a certain percentage/amount.

The one option I would add to this is to put a cap on the amount they could enter, both $ or % (up to 5% or $1,000, etc.)
