We are looking to clean up our job types list so that it's simpler to book jobs. Does anyone have examples of a simplified list of plumbing job types that they would be willing to share?

We had a massive list of different job types in the beginning days of Service Titan. Eventually, we cut out 90% of them by simplifying and condensing. We are an HVAC company that is 75% residential and 25% commercial. Using residential as an example, if the job is a repair or diagnostic we use the "Residential - Service" job type. If it is a maintenance job we use the "Residential - Maintenance" job type. If we are replacing or adding new equipment we use the "Residential - Install" job type. This has greatly reduced the number of job types we have and we type the specifics/details of the job in the "Summary" when booking the job on the Calls screen. I am not sure if this would be useful for you all but it is for us. Rather than having several different job types like, "Not heating" "Draining problem" or "Replace Part", that type of specific wording just goes in the job summary instead. It might seem helpful to use those for job types but they add up quickly the more specific you try to be. Also, it is best to not necessarily keep your technicians in the dark but to keep the job types and summaries fairly generalized so that they aren't going to customers' homes with tunnel vision or expecting one thing based on a specific job type and summary. Now for example we will just use a simple job booking process like, Job Type: "Residential - Service", Summary: "Customer states furnace is not heating".
