Hi everyone,

I’m facing an issue where QuickBooks has stopped working and won’t open. It’s just not responding, and I can’t seem to resolve it. I’ve tried restarting my computer and reinstalling the software without success. Any advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

If QuickBooks has stopped working and won't open despite restarting and reinstalling, try these solutions:

  1. Run as Administrator: Right-click the QuickBooks icon and select "Run as administrator" to ensure it has the necessary permissions.

  2. Check Compatibility Mode: Right-click the QuickBooks icon, select "Properties," go to the "Compatibility" tab, and ensure it’s not set to an older Windows version.

  3. Update QuickBooks: Ensure you have the latest version of QuickBooks by downloading updates from the QuickBooks website.

  4. Repair QuickBooks Installation: Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, select QuickBooks, and choose Repair.

  5. Check for Conflicting Software: Disable or uninstall recently installed software that might conflict with QuickBooks.

  6. Rename the QuickBooks Folder: Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks (you might need to enable hidden files), and rename the folder to something like “QuickBooks_old”. Reopen QuickBooks to regenerate the folder.

  7. Check for Windows Updates: Ensure your operating system is up to date.

  8. Use QuickBooks File Doctor: Download and run the QuickBooks File Doctor tool from the QuickBooks website to identify and fix common issues.

  9. Contact QuickBooks Support: If none of these steps work, contacting QuickBooks support for detailed troubleshooting might be necessary.
