Save in pricebook without adding primary vendor

I've had this happen several times... I will be adding an item into pricebook and then I will get to the vendor section and realize we are getting this item from a new vendor. Once the new vendor is added into pricebook, I then have to refresh the page and it loses all of the information for the material I had already typed out. Could it auto save it? Or could there be an option to save the material to pricebook without adding the primary vendor so I don't lose my progress?

I save it to the "default replenishment vendor" so I can save my work. Then I go add the vendor, go back, and switch it to the new vendor.
