Partial Billing aka Bill for material

Does anyone know how to do this?

  1. We create one estimate for the full installation (labor, materials, equipment).
  2. We obtain approval and book it as one job
  3. We order equipment on PO’s attached to the job
  4. We receive PO’s
  5. Customer isn’t ready for installation yet…
  6. We decide to bill our customer for the quoted materials and equipment
  7. A few weeks later we complete the install (complete the job)
  8. We bill our customer for the quoted installation labor

Is there a way to split one job into 2 invoices.  For example, id like to send one invoice for step 6 and a separate invoice for step 8.  Those invoices combined would add up to the job total.

This sounds like something that can be done through progress billing.  Click the link below for the knowledge base article.  Hope that helps!

Jarrett,

Did the article they provided provide the answer you were looking for.  I need the same question answered, but it still seems a bit strange so i am not sure this is the answer

I agree with @MirandaMel  if you have projects set up, progress billing would achieve this.
