We are in the process of moving our billing to Service Titan.
We were under the impression that if a technician sells a membership out in the field, we have to edit the membership in the customers account and select the payment method INSIDE the membership in order for the customer to be billed monthly.
I was in a test account that we created and I noticed a payment ran on 1/12/23 even though we did not have a card selected... The account did have a card on file.....
Were we wrong in thinking the customer will not be charged unless the payment method is selected in the 'edit membership' screen???

Hello @deucharrezarta,
If there is no preferred payment method inside the customer membership, and there is a saved payment method on the customer profile, then the payment method on the customer profile will be charged.
Here is the order how the logic works for charging for renewal:
1. Attempt to charge preferred payment method in customer membership
2. If there are no preferred payment methods in customer membership, primary payment method on the customer profile will be charged.
3. If there is no primary payment method selected on the customer profile, the oldest saved payment information will be used to charge
If you do not want the customer to get charged, you can select for example preferred payment method as cash or a custom payment method in the customer membership, which will stop attempting to charge after step 1.
