Does anyone have a best practice for adding items to a PO that you dont have loaded in your pricebook? Maybe there is a simple way to do this, I am just not sure of it.

Thanks!!

Like a few others suggested, we do the same. We have a PO-INSTALL, PO-SERVICE, and PO-MAINTENANCE items that are $0. Then we update the description and amount when ordering.

In one of the most recent updates, there was an option to have a template pricebook item.  If you go to settings --> Operations --> Template Pricebook Items and toggle on the switch, it will create a Template Item that can be used.

Another option is to create a code in the Pricebook that is "Special Order" and a $0 value to it and update the description and price on the PO's when you add that.

We do what @MirandaMel suggested and have a material in our pricebook called Dummy PO Part.  We use this to add to the PO and then just change the description as we order a lot of one off, random parts that we will never use again, so not worth the time or effort to clutter up our pricebook by having it.
