Today, September 15th is National Tradesmen Day.

National Tradesmen Day celebrates the hard work of a group without whom this community would not exist. The folks who connect, secure, and automate our world; who keep our infrastructure – and our lives – running smoothly at home, at work, or anywhere else, In honor of tradesmen everywhere, thank you for all that you do!

And we want to CELEBRATE YOU!

In the spirit of honoring tradesmen professionals, we want to hear your stories! We all have those folks throughout our careers whose influence has shaped us. They motivate us to persevere when things get tough, inspire us to consider new perspectives when we get stuck, and challenge us to go above and beyond when we feel ourselves falling short. We invite you to comment below and recognize a tradesmen who has inspired you.

If they are a community member and you tag them, you and the tradesmen you nominate will have a chance to win a sweet surprise!

How it works

In a comment on this blog post, share an appreciation message (roughly 75-100 words) for someone you have worked with in the trades before 11 a.m. EDT on Thursday, September 28th (09/28/2023). Be sure to tag them in your post if they are a Community member. We’ll then draw one at random to win some donuts and send them over to your office.

I would like to like to take this opportunity and show appreciation for @tsjobeck ! I have been with him in Embers and Sparks and have learned so much! I was so glad I got to meet him in person at Pantheon. Tim had his own plumbing business and used ServiceTitan, so he is good at sharing his knowledge of the trades with us along with how to best utilize the software. Thank you, Tim, for all you have done and continue to do for all of us!

I want to dedicate this appreciation post to one of Fluesbrothers owners and my boss Jeremy Biswell. He is the man in charge here along with his wife Brandi. He has owned Fluesbrothers for 23 years. He started the business young and fostered it and watched it grow into the business it is today. He is truly inspiring. He knew what he wanted and what he could accomplish and went for it. Now having the largest chimney company in the Greater Kansas City area. As most tradesmen do he works all the time and works hard. There has not been one day in my 3 years here that I have not seen him working hard. He is truly an inspiration and I am very proud to be able to work for him and @brandiCVCSucces . I want to thank them both for taking a chance on me from the beginning!

I would like to take a moment show appreciation and gratitude to Garrett Buzzard ( @Gbuzz ). Garrett started with Bowman's Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning & Electrical Inc back in 2002. I wasn't here and didn't know him then, but I know that he started low on the totem pole as a helper. He worked his way up to learn all the positions in the field and the equipment and always strived to learn more and better himself. He left Bowman's for a bit due to personal reasons. I started here in 2015 and Garrett returned in 2016. He pick up where he left off in the field. I could turn to him for anything and everything. He would take a crappy jobs that no one else wanted or the jobs that didn't pay the best commission to make sure that all our customers were taken care of. He would come in early...or work late into the evening. If he didn't have something, he would sit in my office and offer to help file paperwork or help with office cleaning to help take some of my work load off me and incase the phone rang, he could just go straight there. He never complained or turned it down. Due to family matters, he unfortunately had to leave again. We stayed in touch and with personal matter and life happening we grew closer. Our general manager quit and I was able to convince Garrett that the third time would be the charm...and he came back to Bowman's again. (Each time...the owner's wanting him back...so never left on bad terms!). But this time...Garrett is not in the field, he is behind a desk with a computer and tablet. The computer world is completely new to him and he has hit the ground running. He wanted to come to Pantheon with me to learn what he could (I think he was overwhelmed back came back with as many ideas as I had!). He is registering for his ServiceTitan Administrative Certification and wants me to teach him. He wants to know how to do his job, the techs and sales jobs and mine incase I am ever out of the office.

He is a somewhat single father of twin boys...commutes an hour 1 way...is willing to work and learn and do better and help every day! He doesn't let personal matter effects his job or work. He is inspirational and makes me want to be better. He is my best friend and I love him dearly!

He doesn't need donuts...I doubt would turn them down...but sometimes I think he forgets that he is awesome and everyone here appreciates his hard work and efforts!

I would love to shout out my bosses Frank and Tom Scarangello who were truly Born in The Trades! They are third generation tradesmen, and they are currently training the fourth generation to take over one day! The company was founded in 1930, by their grandfather who delivered Blocks of Ice for refrigeration and Coal used to heat the homes on Staten Island. After their Dad got back from World war II the company adjusted with the times and switched from Coal to Oil. As the Heating and cooling market ever evolved, so did the family business. I'm amazed every day at their dedication and professionalism, and their commitment to giving back to our community! They have BIG hearts and bigger smiles and lead with integrity. I'm proud to be a part of this organization, and look forward to celebration the 100th year (and beyond) with them as we continue to grow and evolve with the times!

Where do I begin!!

I wouldn't have stayed in the trades if I wasn't challenged by the many roles I have been blessed with at Gulfshore Air. After 12 years I know that this found me instead of me finding the job posting at the local college. I may have not been born in the trades but at just 21 and fresh out of college I GREW UP in the trades!!

Daily our technicians (install and service), the owner, and fellow managers pour into me some knowledge. It could be technical, industry, or a quirk of the day. Regardless, they all over the years have factored into my immense education of the HVAC industry here in Florida. A day doesn't go by where I don't bore my husband or parents talking about something new I learned!!

So my thank you is to any current, past, or future employee of Gulfshore Air that will educate me on how to be a better leader and continue learning 1 nugget at a time.

I want to use this contest to show appreciation for the Bacon man that started the wonderful company that I work for, Brad Bacon. He started with one truck and worked hard to build Bacon Plumbing Heating Air and Electric. With his whole family working at Bacon, it is truly a family owned and operated company. Shout out to the whole Bacon family for making the workplace feel like we are all part of the family.

In honor of National Tradesmen Day, I want to extend my deepest appreciation to Robin Goit at Robison. Robin, you've been a pillar of support and a wellspring of knowledge throughout my career in the trades. Your incredible dedication, work ethic, and care for your craft inspire me every day. You've shown me that it's not just about getting the job done; it's about doing it well and lifting up everyone around you. Your guidance has been invaluable to me, especially in times of challenge. I completely nominate @RandiThompson .  We could not have migrated to ServiceTitan without her.  Her expertise on so many levels makes everything move so much more smoothly.  She has everyone's back and goes above and beyond.  I look forward to our future endeavors together.  Thank you, Randi, for being the person you are.  Joplin's is better off because of you.

I want to thank my amazing boss and the president of Custom Sheet Metal & Heating, Amy Loftis. She brought me into her company at a time when I was feeling pretty low and with her encouragement and support I am feeling more confident every day. She encouraged me to complete my certified administrator training and sent me to Pantheon to celebrate. Her dedication and support is incredible and she is always building her staff up. You, Amy, are an amazing individual and we are all blessed to work for, and with, you. @csmamy
