Create Estimate Later?

Hi all new to ServiceTitan. A lot of our estimators do not create estimates on the spot or immediately after the visit. Sometimes we have to gather fluctuating material costs prior to submitting an estimate. Does anyone currently do this? If so what is your work flow if you "closeout" the estimate to move forward to the next one?

This is one of the most frustrating issues we face.

Our plumbers have high-end remodel jobs that require lots of research after the initial visit in order to create an estimate. They are often contacting supply houses and waiting for calls back while running additional calls/performing work. It's not feasible for them to juggle yet another login for the office side and learn a different interface, in fact, they refuse to do it, they are not technical as it is.   Booking a new job for them to create an estimate often results in unwanted text messages being sent to the customer that we are "on the way".

So what happens is they carry a notebook or use a notes app on their tablet and keep track to estimates this way. Making service titan very ineffective for us in this aspect. I can't believe an estimate cant be created after the job has been closed, such a simple common sense idea.

Same issue here almost 1.5 years later.  The work arounds do not work well for technicians. Other software providers allow technicians to search for a customer and send an estimate... no job needed.

You have a couple of options- you could give your estimators office logins to do the estimate on the office side later; or they could pause the job to do it later the same day; or you could reassign the job to them when they are ready to do the estimate.
