We are working on setting up T&M jobs in ST. We currently are charging the first half hour at a fixed rate and then anything after that is T&M at a different rate per hour.
Is there a way to set this up in ST that is automated and calculated at each T&M job?

If you use a flat rate system, the dynamic pricing feature that ST offers can do exactly that with progressive hourly rates.

If you're billing for the actual time a job takes I would use Client Specific Pricing! It's also in the new pricing builders tab within the pricebook, but it's designed towards T&M where as dynamic is geared to flat rate or upfront pricing because it uses set sold hours on services to determine prices. Client specific uses services marked as "labor service" that can also be applied to technicians to track actual worked time. I highly recommend doing all training on client specific pricing first!
The key to getting that workflow you mentioned automated with client specific pricing is to request and set up labor types and use the option "automate labor charges" in the rules you build out. You'll make that first hour a service with a fixed price in your pricebook, and the labor after the first hour a service too but marked as labor. When you build the CSP (client specific pricing) rule out and are on the labor rate step add the service you marked as a labor service under labor rates. Then toggle "automate labor charges" on and select "deduct labor time for service fees". Put the other service you made for the fixed first hour under service fees and add 60 min in the deduct labor time field.
When you build the invoice make sure:
- The CSP rate sheet is applied.
- The service fee is on it.
- Labor types are set up and applied to technicians.
- Technicians have correct timesheets on the job.
- Permissions allow "calculate prices".
- Then hit that calculate button!
- (Also keep in mind if the techs timesheet is less than 60 minutes nothing will happen which is correct and as intended 😉 Only the service fee should apply until they have over 60 minutes on the job.
