Red dot Notification on Task Icon

What is the red dot notification on the task icon?  Mine has a 1 in it.  I have clicked on all the drop down options under task and it won't go away.  I'm sure I am missing something important. : )

Open Task Management, make sure you are clicked on the the Open tasks, you should see a task that is assigned to you, click on it (not the hyper links just in the task area) and it should give the option at the top to close then at the bottom click apply and save.

That means you have a task assigned to you. The red dot will go away once you resolve and close the task.
