Using Equipment Tag & History to Alert for office action needed

Hello,

I am trying to create a workflow for alerting our office of possible 3rd party warranty claims to process.  What I have created is a tag for the equipment with this warranty.  Then my thought was for the tech to mark the equipment on the job as serviced with the task code for their visit that day.  My hope was for a report/alert that would cross reference a service history event against the warranty tag and notify my office staff to review the job and warranty to complete a claim.  Has anyone done anything like this, what is your work around?  I tried to create an equipment template custom report, but it forces to set install date range as a filter and times out if I try to bypass or set to more than a day at a time.
