This caught me off guard too and then it was explained to me. In order to validate the address when entering a new customer or location you just need to type the city in the "address" field then tab and you can hit validate address. Technically its the same as the old way but since you can see the "city" state" "zip" columns after the update instinct tells you to type in them. Hope this helps!
