Field employees texting customers

I'm going to preface this with "I know it's possible." There are serious limitations. That said, here's my conundrum.

 

We have Phones Pro. We want to stop issuing company cell phones to techs & sales people because they can have Phones Pro numbers and not have to carry two devices. Our biggest roadblock is that they can't text through Phones Pro, and particularly for salespeople, the field ability to use ST chat is too limited.
 
How are your field employees (particularly salespeople) texting with customers in a way that is linked to you and you can have a record of the interaction?

The biggest headache is that Dialpad HAS texting capability- but not with Phones Pro.
